Description

The course will focus on the types of Variable Frequency Drives; Invertors; Four Quadrant Operation; Active Front End; Scalar and Vector Drives and Direct Torque Control Drives and their applications.
The Course will describe the Auto Tuning and Manual Tuning Process for Drives with Field Orientation also the most important parameter settings for a Scalar Drive.

Objective

The participants will learn how to select a drive based on the process control; setup a scalar drive for basic applications; setup a vector control with field orientation; setup a direct torque control drive with accelerated vector.
Design a control system with drive incorporated providing unity power factor at the input of the drive.

After you attend this course/workshop, you will be able to

  • Select the proper drive for an application
  • select a current Inverter for large applications
  • select and size an Active Front End or Full Regen Drive if required
  • Calculate the Dynamic Braking Resistor for the specific application
  • Program a SCALAR VFD
  • Tune and select the proper parameters for a VECTOR Drive
  • Tune and select the proper parameters for a Direct Torque Control Drive for a Torque type application

Dr. Eduard Loiczli

Eduard Loiczli is currently a Nuclear Integration Senior Electrical Engineer for Ontario Power Generation. He has more than 26 years experience in Electrical Engineering and Controls and has made many achievements in the industry. He has designed programming applications for nuclear applications, SCADA and DCS. He has also created programming and integration solutions for oil extraction and an automated line for the glass industry. In addition to programming solutions, Mr Loiczli has been project leader for design in many electrical projects.
 
Mr Loiczli is a member of IEEE, Ontario Fire Association and APEO. He is a Certified Nuclear Engineer.

Education @ Your Desk. A Live Webinar Class means that you will attend the class via the web using your computer. There are scheduled breaks for coffee and lunch. You use a microphone, headset, or your phone and are able to interact with the instructor and other students while following notes while watching the presentation slides online just as you would in a live classroom. Notes are posted online. For an extra cost a hard copy can be requested.
